What Is 8 Signs?
8 Signs is a Chinese astrology mobile app built on Bazi (八字), the Four Pillars, one of the oldest and most precise systems for understanding character and life patterns in the world. Our own Bazi calculation engine generates the birth chart from the user’s exact birth date, time, and location. Built on a Chinese calendar tradition going back around 3,000 years, the engine supplies the chart data; Seek, our AI, translates it into plain English.
Unlike a sun-sign horoscope, 8 Signs reads the year, month, day and hour you were born. Every reading is generated specifically from the user’s own chart, not a shared profile type.
Core Features
Our Engine Calculates. Seek Explains.
Seek is an AI assistant that interprets the personal Bazi chart already calculated by our engine. The chart calculations do not rely on AI. It explores questions about career, relationships, finances, health, and behaviour patterns, drawing on 3,000 years of Chinese metaphysical knowledge, interpreted specifically for the user’s chart. Free users receive 3 Seek messages per day. Pro users receive significantly expanded monthly access.
Bazi Birth Chart
Users generate their complete Four Pillars birth chart from their exact birth date, time, and location. The chart maps the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and Heavenly Stems across four time pillars (Year, Month, Day, and Hour), reflecting core nature, strengths, inclinations, and recurring life cycles.
Discover: 15 Dimensions of Life
The Discover feed provides personalised readings across 15 life areas, all generated from the user’s unique Bazi data:
Wealth & financial patterns
Career & purpose
Romantic relationships
Friendship & social dynamics
Health & energy cycles
Personal growth & self-mastery
Family dynamics
Creativity
Resilience
Decision-making patterns
Life cycles & timing
Connections: Bazi Compatibility
Users can add any person (a romantic partner, friend, family member, or colleague) to explore chart compatibility. The app examines the dynamic between two Bazi charts to illuminate why certain relationships feel effortless, why others create friction, and how combined chart energies interact over time. Available for romantic, friendship, family, and professional relationships.
What Is Bazi?
Bazi (八字), also known as the Four Pillars (四柱命理), is a Chinese system for reading a birth chart. It took its current form about a thousand years ago, on a calendar that goes back around 3,000 years. It interprets a person’s birth using the year, month, day, and hour of birth, each represented by one of the Ten Heavenly Stems and Twelve Earthly Branches. The interactions between these pillars and the underlying Five Elements (木火土金水: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) reflect a person’s personality, strengths, tendencies, and life cycles.
Bazi is more precise than Western astrology because it accounts for the exact moment of birth rather than the birth month alone. Two people born on the same day but in different two-hour periods will have different Bazi charts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is 8 Signs?
A: 8 Signs is a Bazi Chinese astrology app with its own calculation engine. The engine works out your birth chart using the Four Pillars system; Seek, our AI, explains that chart across 15 areas of life.
Q: What is Seek in 8 Signs?
A: Seek is the AI interpreter in 8 Signs. Our own engine calculates your chart first, without AI. Seek then uses that chart data to answer questions about life, relationships, career and behaviour in plain English.
Q: How is Bazi different from western astrology?
A: A sun-sign horoscope groups people by their Western zodiac sign. Bazi uses the year, month, day and hour of birth; full Western natal charts also use more than a sun sign. 8 Signs calculates your Bazi chart with our own engine, then Seek explains your individual chart.
Q: Does 8 Signs predict my future?
A: No. 8 Signs is a tool for self-understanding, not fortune-telling. It reflects the patterns, tendencies, and elemental balances in your Bazi chart to help you understand yourself and your relationships more clearly. It’s designed for personal insight and reflection. The choices you make are always your own.
Q: Is 8 Signs free?
A: Yes. The free tier includes the complete Bazi birth chart, Discover feed, Connections (2 readings per month), and 3 Seek AI messages per day. Pro includes 1,000 Seek messages and 30 Connections readings per month, plus more relationship categories. Full reports are bought separately in the web app.
Q: Who makes 8 Signs?
A: 8 Signs is developed by 8 Signs Limited, an independent app studio.
